
Winter 2008 Spotlight: Gary Gross, M.D.
Each quarter, the RVPC will highlight the dedication and experience of a repeat volunteer physician.
Gary Gross, M.D. is a four time RVPC volunteer. Well known for his extensive clinical knowledge, judgment and calm, thoughtful teaching style, his rotations are anticipated by Clinic residents and fellows as well as the Island medical community.
Dr. Gary graduated from the University of Rochester and Baylor Medical School. He served his Pediatric residency at the University of California, San Francisco where he was a chief resident. This was followed by a
National Institutes of Health Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology at the University of Colorado. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from which he retired as a Captain and has been in a pediatric group practice in San Diego since 1986. He is on the medical staffs of Scripps Memorial Hospitals in La Jolla and Encinatas.
Dr. Gary leads a busy and adventuresome life. In addition to Roatán, he has volunteered in Mexico, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the mountains of northern India. He is a member of the Wilderness Medical Society as well as a board member of the Himalayan Health Exchange.
